New Development Addresses Scarcity of Single Family Home Sites in
the Steamboat Springs Area
Steamboat Springs, CO - March 24, 2008 - The City of Steamboat Springs has granted Mountain Property Development final plat approval on the company’s development known as “Barn Village at Steamboat”. The recording of this final plat approval constitutes a major milestone in the development’s progress as the company now has the necessary approvals to complete the sub-division.
The Barn Village at Steamboat features 62 home sites on 40 acres that are adjacent to Fish Creek and minutes away from the Steamboat Ski Area. Duplex, single family and estate lots are currently available for purchase. The community will feature 26 percent open space, an extensive trail system, a neighborhood clubhouse and fitness center, and a four acre low-impact park donated by the developers to the city.
As much of the real-estate development within the borders of the town nears completion, the Barn Village at Steamboat may be the last opportunity for prospective buyers to purchase single-family lots close to Steamboat’s world-class ski resort.
The Barn Village at Steamboat retains the historic, western charm that defines Steamboat Springs. The developers, Robert Comes and Eric McAfee have completed a $150,000 restoration of a historic barn on the development site, known to locals as the “More Barn”. Over the years, the barn has become Steamboat’s icon and has been featured in numerous publications.
“Growing up here in Colorado, I fell in love with Steamboat Springs early on,” stated Robert Comes. “In my mind, the town offers a unique blend of historic Colorado and a state-of-the-art ski resort that rivals any resort in the country.”
Prospective home owners at The Barn Village at Steamboat development will reap the benefits of a massive rejuvenation of the town of Steamboat Springs that is referred to as “Steamboat Unbridled”. Announced plans include a $16 million revamp of the ski resort, a $23 million investment in public improvements, major real estate development at the ski resort base, and upgraded airport and air access. It is estimated that over the next five years in excess of $600 million will be invested in improvements to the town.

The developers have also donated land to the nearby Yampa Valley Medical Center to provide on-site housing for its hospital staff. “Our hope is that on-site housing at the hospital will draw top caliber medical staff to the area,” said Eric McAfee, one of the developers. “We believe that this will prove to be a huge benefit to Steamboat Springs in helping to continue to provide top-notch medical services to the community.”
